Otoplasty
What is Otoplasty?
Otoplasty, or “ear pinning” is a cosmetic procedure that involves surgically reshaping the outer ear (or pinna). Typically, it is used to correct ears that are protruding.

The Procedure
The operation for otoplasty usually takes about an hour and it is performed under a local anaesthetic in adults and general anaesthesia in children. The procedure involves making a small cut at the back of your ear in order to access the ear cartilage. This will then be closed with dissolvable sutures.
Recovery
You will typically be able to go home the same day as your otoplasty procedure. You will need to wear a head bandage for a few days after surgery. You will need to wear a head band after the bandage is removed. Usually, you can return to work after a week, but will need to avoid any contact sports for a few months.
